Have never heard of soldering the connector to the mobo. Mobos that I have
seen that can use the USB have always had the 2 rows of 5 pins on the mobo
for the connector to attach to. I guess if you are good at soldering you
could remove the plastic connector that slip over the pins on the mobo and
solder the wires to the mobo.
