Hello one and all.
I'm building up a new system for some friends that will have these
components: Asus p5a motherboard, K6-2 300 processor, Century pc100 memory,
Creative 40x cdrom, US robotics 56k modem and an Awe 64 sound card. They
already have an old computer and am opting to keep their monitor, floppy
and video card.
The client wants to keep the existing hard drive which is three years old,
has a 1.2gig capacity and windows 95a as an operating system.
Am I heading for trouble with this old hard drive? Will it act as a
bottleneck to the system. I can get hold of a 3.2gig Quantum, Ultra Dma,
5400 rpm hard drive for a good price.
If I was to stay with the old drive what are the best procedures to take
before removing it from the old system. I have been advised in the past to
go into system manager in safe mode and remove all the system components
before removing the hard drive.
