Please be aware that it is not the rated "speed" of the
memory chips on the PC100 SDRAM that renders such SDRAM
incompatible with the older motherboards. There are other
issues such as circuit design, chip density, and voltage,
which affect compatibility.

I would always recommend using PC100 SDRAM in non-PC100
Board if it will work properly, thus allowing you the
option of migrating the RAM to a newer motherboard at a
later date. While there isn't any "actual" intrinsic
advantage to using "faster" than specified DIMMs in a
properly working motherboard, you may rest easier knowing
there is some extra headroom in the event some components
exceed their specifications.

An enthusiast might pay extra for this intangible but the
average user really shouldn't bother.
