Hello All,
I need some advice and thought I would ask all of you. I have an
opportunity to purchase a Winbook FX Pentium 166MMX computer for $500. It
has just one problem and I am taking a gamble on it being something I can
fix for an affordable price. It has a problem with the video display.
When you are in windows if you open any boxes or menus, when you close
them a ghost image is left behind. also some trace speckles get left at
other times. Does this sound like a video card(translated motherboard in
laptops) or the LCD display? And what is the approximate cost in each
case? I am well experienced in the repair of desktop computers but have
virtually no laptop experience. The reason I am able to get it so cheap
is, I work for a major insurance company and sometimes things like this
come up for salvage bid. The company doesn't care if they make any money,
they just want to get rid of it. What little I know about this is that it
was in a car that was involved in a collision and the video problem is a
result of it. Everything else works fine. It comes complete with all
manuals, software disks, removable drives, power supply and docking
station. Also, is Winbook a good brand? Thanks in advance for any advice.
