If you want to do this with a card (original poster specified a
motherboard with SCSI built in...), there are two warnings:
1. The external connector on the 2940UW is an HD68 *wide* connector.
You can spend a lot of money on adapters to connect narrow (SCSI 2)
devices to it. [This makes the FirePort 40 an attractive
alternative, since its external connector is an HD50.]
2. Ultra-wide cards tend to have three connectors on them -- 50-pin
and 68-pin internal, and HD50 or HD68 external. YOU CANNOT USE ALL 3
AT ONCE. Pick any two. [Knowing this was not sufficient to prevent
me from (without realizing it) trying it. It didn't damage anything,
but it didn't work, either.]
