Let's see. It displays fine in 640x480 and 1024x768, but not in
800x600 or text mode. Problem persists when a PCI S3 card is used.
Sounds to me like a monitor that works at only one or two
frequencies -- such monitors became much less common after the
success of the original NEC MultiSync, introduced around 1986.
