  I have the same situation with two 16 MB chips (72-pin EDO SIMMS) on a
friend's computer. Without documentation to let me know whether the two
RAM types will get along I am going to pull the 72-pin and insert a 64
MB DRAM in the DIMMS slot. Pricewise the DIMMS are much cheaper than the
SIMMs now. I paid $48 for the 64 MB module and the SIMMs I priced were
nearly that much for a 32 MB stick.

  To answer your question about whether you can mix them I only know
that most technicians discourage the practice because of voltage
concerns. Yet some manufacturers of motherboards document that it can be
done on their board
safely. YMMV.
