David,
I have overhauled the BIOS manual and the BIOS itself and
came with few remarks on the subject:
1). "powerup mouse double-clk" refers to option to power up
the PC via keyboard shortcut [ctrl-F1] or double-click of the
mouse. This option works ONLY if you have already shut down
the PC once [i.e. it won't work the first time you plug the PC
in], and is reachable via bios\\Integrated Peripherals\Power
On Function [Button Only is the default]; also, you have to be
_really_ quick with your mouse - I got it only after few tries.
2). The RESET switch always works, even if the machine is
hung and power button doesn't work. If you want to shutdown
a hung PC, Reset it, wait for it to POST and then shut it down.
3). One more option that you may try [I didn't] is located at
bios\\Power Management\Power Button Override, and it (supposedly)
allows you to shut down the PC by holding power button for 4 sec.,
regardless of machine's current state.
Hope this aids you in your struggle!
