To follow up on summary of student health insurance:

Students with a current student non-group health policy can sometimes
transfer to a standard policy with better coverage for office visits and
diagnostic tests.

New employees of large companies may not have problems getting covered, but
with smaller companies it could be more difficult. And some small employers
do not offer health care coverage at all.

Doctors may be reluctant to see a new patient who wants to pay cash or who
is without good health insurance. "what kind of insurance do you have?" is
a standard question. Sometimes before "what problems are you having?"

Celiac disease might not be the correct diagnosis - symptoms might be caused
by something else, even though CD is likely because of family history. And
while celiac disease might not be a costly diagnosis from the perspective
of an insurance company arthritis or cancer, for example, would be.

Other comments from list members:
"I am appalled and shocked at the many responses suggesting that you commit
insurance fraud! ...Insurance fraud is lying, cheating and stealing from all
of us!"

"...wear a medi-alert bracelet. Also put something on your driver's license
& medical insurance cards."

"check into a option called "cobra"? It is an option for college aged kids
on the parent's health insurance. My daughter, now 17 will be covered
starting at age 10 until age 25, as long as she is in college."

Thanks for responses and comments, Waynel in Oklahoma
