Hi Everyone,
I've been a member of this listserv for about a month now, and find it
most informative.
My mother is a coeliac, recently diagnosed at the age of sixty-six. So
far I am asymtomatic, however, my three month old daughter, who is
exclusively breastfed, has been off colour for the last two weeks. She is
frequently surrounded by an offensive smelling gas, and has been producing
bowel motions that are looser than usual, and appear to have a fatty or
mucous content. As I start to eliminate all other potential hazards from my
diet, I would be grateful to learn if she is possibly having a coeliac
reaction to the gluten present in my diet, and consequently, in my
breastmilk? I would be interested to hear other mothers' experiences with
coeliac disease in babies.
With Many Thanks,
Jenny in New Zealand
