New Microsoft(R) Accessibility Web Site

On June 7 Microsoft launched a major redesign of its Accessibility Web site,
presenting a new look and a new organization based on feedback from site
visitors. Each week, new information will be added to the site, which can be
found at: http://www.microsoft.com/enable/

The Microsoft Accessibility site provides information about accessible
technology to help improve the lives of people with disabilities by making
computers a positive force in employment, education, and recreation. The
information on this site benefits those with disabilities, outreach
organizations, educators, advocates, and friends and family members.

Technology for Everyone

While maintaining a longstanding commitment to the disability community, a
new vision of Technology for Everyone aims to welcome others who will
greatly benefit from accessible technology, such as seniors.

This site includes descriptions of accessibility features in Microsoft
operating systems and applications, product documentation in accessible
formats, a catalog of accessibility aids designed for Windows operating
systems, as well as articles, stories, and a calendar of events.

In addition, a key goal of the site is to educate, equip, and motivate
developers to build accessible software, hardware, Web sites, and
documentation. Developers can learn about major technology projects at
Microsoft, and can find guidelines and checklists to help them create more
accessible programs.

New Information Each Monday

June 7 was the start of a new weekly publishing schedule: Every Monday,
fresh news, information, and headlines will be published on the site.

This week read the Microsoft Office 2000 accessibility overview and learn
about Microsoft Office 2000 accessibility features at
http://www.microsoft.com/enable/products/office2000/.

Site Navigation and Custom Keyboard Shortcuts

The Microsoft Accessibility site includes custom keyboard shortcuts to make
navigation easier.

Learn these keyboard shortcuts, more information about site features, or
send your feedback at http://www.microsoft.com/enable/microsoft/site.htm.
