if you have the full version of either software package, there is a
beginner's on line tutorial that comes with them.  by on line i mean
based on the computer rather than books or the internet.

there is also a company that makes pretty inexpensive video based
tutorials, about $30 per level per software package.  and there are
about 3 levels for each software item that you want to learn about, like
excel.  these videos are run right on your pc and can be stopped and
reviewed etc, whenever you need to.

having the video right on the computer is more convenient than working
back and forth from a TV/VCR setup.

the tutorial gets you moving through most basic and intermediate
functions, but doesn't really take you through any advanced training...
not many classes that even do that very well, but there are a few.
