From my personal experience, I have yet to get ill from eating raw eggs or
meat. I started eating raw eggs over 25 years ago, have eaten raw eggs on
many occasions throughout my life, often several at a time, some purchased
at supermarkets, some purchased at farmers markets, some from co-op
groceries, some from health food stores. Never once have I gotten sick from
any occasion of eating raw eggs.
I have eaten raw meat, poultry and fish now for about six weeks. Some of
these I have gotten from supermarkets, some from farmer's markets, some from
fish markets, some form a local farmer. Not once yet have I had any stomach
upset.
However, I have many times had stomach upsets after eating cooked meat or
fish. I suspect that if the stuff I ate was raw, not cooked, it would have
had a funny taste that would have turned me off.
I believe that all the fear about eating raw meat etc is unwarranted and
was/is generated by food processing and pharmaceutical industries. The food
processors would like everybody to be so terrified of raw foods that they
would purchase only already cooked foods. Now they want to irradiate every
piece of meat--"value added"--so they have to convince everyone that meat is
loaded with microbes so deadly that they must be "nuked" for your
protection....
All this germ-phobia is also good for pharmaceutical industry profits...to
sell vaccines and antibiotics they have to make you deathly afraid of
"infections", so you'll consent to their running experiments on your
children and run to the doctor at the first sign of any sniffle or stomach
discomfort, demanding from the doctor a prescription for antibiotics ....
BTW, RAW mother's milk is the best antibiotic and vaccine for
children....BUT THERE ARE NO PROFITS TO BE MADE ON THAT! If you want to
make money, convince the people that there's nothing special about RAW
mother's milk, have the "physicians" sell them on a COOKED and sugar-laden
product like SIMILAC. (I use the quotation marks because many "physicians"
are really just glorified drug salesmen.) Then their children will get sick
a lot, so the people will be ripe for your sales pitch on the virtues of the
latest vaccinations and antibiotics, delivered through those
"physicians".....Now you've got an entire sickly generation in your
pocket.....$$$$$$$$!
There is a great book to read, entitled The Milk Book, by Wm. Campbell
Douglass, M.D. (Second Opinion Publishing, phone 1/800/728/2288). In this
book Dr. Douglass tells the story of how food processors, the media and the
medical profession conspired to convince the people that raw milk is far
more dangerous than pasteurized milk, although as a matter of fact there
was/is no evidence that supports this hypothesis--in fact, more people have
gotten ill from pasteurized milk than from raw milk. It is amazing the
lengths to which the milk industry went to fabricate a false case against
raw milk. You might ask, why did the milk industry want to pasteurize milk?
1) TO FACILITATE INTERSTATE COMMERCE (you can't ship raw milk long
distances in sealed containers, it'll be spoiled on arrival), 2) SHELF LIFE
(raw milk quickly turns to yogurt on its own, due to lactobacillus bacteria
naturally occuring in it), 3) IN SHORT, PROFIT$. Sanitation had nothing to
do with it--in fact, making pasteurization mandatory actually led to
sloppier milk handling--more contaminated milk.
I've wondered how far this hysteria will go. If you give the bureacrats an
inch, they'll take a mile. When will the government start requiring
pasteurization of human mother's milk? Now they are requiring
pasteurization of fruit juices claiming that raw juices spread e.
coli....Will they soon make raw whole fruit illegal? I SURE HOPE NOT.
