Looking for some info on a 6 pin mini DIN connector PS2 mouse pinouts.
This is the situation:
When I purchased my motherboard (Octek Rhino 12) which has PS2 mouse
support on-board, they did not include the cable and card edge mouse
connector. The motherboard manual shows the signals for each pins on the
motherboard connector. (
I got from someone a card edge DIN connector, but it has a 5 pin connector
on the motherboard end whereas my Rhino Motherboard has a 4 pin connector
for the mouse.
I looked up the pinouts in my Pocket PCRef book (Glover) and they gave the
pinouts as follows:
pin 1 - Data
pin 2 - Not used
pin 3 - Signal Ground
pin 4 - +5 volt
pin 5 - Clock
pin 6 - Not used
Looking at the 6 pin mini DIN connector on the card edge end of the cable,
there are wires going to pins as follows:
Going clockwise from the key looking into the connector:
3 4
2 5
1 6
^
key
The cable wires go to pins 1, 2, 3, and 5.
I can't seem to make the PC Ref pin numbers jive with the actual
connections on the DIN connector.
Any help?
TIA
Doug Simmons
