Some responses to my post indicated confusion caused by incomplete
wording. Additional confusion perhaps from extending a statement about one
type of diabetes with one type of diet to another pairing.
When I said
>>For Type 2 diabetics who develop celiac, the GF diet makes it HARDER to
control their disease. They're supposed to be on a low-calorie diet with
nearly zero fats to hold insulin resistance in check. Yes, their blood
sugars gradually start to soar and they have to gradually reduce their
diet, increase exercise, and or increase medication. )<<
Second sentence should have been
For diabetes, they're supposed to be on a low-calorie diet, mostly carbs
and modest protein with nearly zero fats to hold insulin resistance in
check.
I said nothing about the effects of a low carb diet on blood sugar nor its
effect on non-diabetics, only that its long term effect on all diabetics
from the high protein and/or fats on kidneys and liver is unknown. In
fact, the low carb diet usually does help blood sugar control, hence its
deceptive appeal.
