As Eric Outten suggested, first make sure you have enabled
sharing on the drives themselves. Then open "my computer", under
'view' click on 'toolbar'. There is one button for drive mapping.
You'll need to map the shared drive name on each computer. For
example, when you enable sharing on drive c: of locust1, you
might give it the share name of bug1. (When you share a drive--by
right clicking on the icon, then choosing "share"--you must give
it a name in the blank designated "share as".) From "My computer"
of dustie1, you would then need to map (letting d: be a CD-ROM)
e: to \\locust1\bug1 [not sure of my punctuation there].
When each machine's drive(s) have been enabled for sharing and
have share names, they can map each other's shared drives, giving
access to each other's files and applications.  (This is a lot
easier to see than to describe, but I hope it has made some
sense. It was something just this simple that confounded a couple
of us working on re-enabling appropriate sharing on a 2-machine
office network, recently. Good luck.)
