Hello all,

I will be taking delivery of a new Dell computer hopefully next week and it
comes with a 12.9 G hard drive, and running Win98. I have not enquired about
Dell's "default" configurations, but I am assuming that they will be
preparing the drive with one large C: partition. Given that FAT32 will
presumably be used, there are fewer questions regarding large drives and
cluster size etc.

However, even under FAT32, I am wondering about the wisdom of one large vs
several smaller partitions. Which "system" works best?

For example, if I am using Windows Explorer, surely having one very large
partition will greatly increase the time for drive windows to open and
display, for searches to be made, the amount of scrolling etc. On the other
hand, I have never had such a fast drive before, nor such a powerful
processor (PII, 400), so maybe I am worrying about nothing.

Would anyone care to give advice on the 1 large partition vs several smaller
partitions. I am not planning on running multiple OS's.

Thanks to all in advance.

Michael
