Sorry this response is so late in coming but better late than never.
And I'd like to thank everyone that responded.

Richard, you are 100% right.  I thought (like a dummy) that there had to
be a special driver for the 24X CD-Rom and I was trying to select from
those other possibilities (Sony, etc.).  Win 95 takes care of it own in
handling a CD-Rom, as you pointed out and as I finally observed with the
CD-Rom in full operation.

So thank you for setting me straight on this issue.
