Hi John

I just read this morning about someone whose motherboard
was almost destroyed due to an electrical problem. His
computer wouldn't boot and he opened his case to find that
the sockets where the power supply connected to the board
were fused and blackened.

I didn't save the original message, but I do have this:

>Well I called Supermicro who told me that the power conector
>melting was a "known issue" and will be adding a extra 6 pin
>5v power connector to the board and fixing it for cost of
>shipping. However I now have to find a AT power supply that
>has three not two conectons it seems... aka the at conector
>is 12 pins long this extra is 6 pins.. so 1/2 the full at size,
>it seems the board needs the AT AND this extra to be stable
>with 8 cards. Nice of them to let me know!!!!

If you need to contact this person, I'll send you his email
address (provided he doesn't mind).

Regards,
Bill
