Here is an excerpt from
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q130/1/79.asp
which may help. You are running in Dos Compatibility Mode and may have
to edit the Registry to remove a reference to your hard drive.

There is a comprehensive trouble shooting procedure at this location,
also there are KB's dealing with this problem.
If you don't have access to the net let me know off list and I will get
info to you.

3.If the hard disk controller is listed in Device Manager but has a
yellow exclamation point over it, there is an
IRQ, I/O, DMA,or RAM address conflict with another device,
the protected-mode driver is missing or
damaged, or the "Disable all 32-bit
protected-mode disk drivers" check box is selected in File System
         properties.

Now I have a yellow exclamation next to my Primary IDE Controller in
device
manager and haven't been able to find out why.

Windows does not know what this device is. It doesnt have drivers for
it.
Thats why the question mark.
