This project is supported by a grant from the National Institute on
Disability and Rehabilitation Research, US Department of Education, under
PL 103-218, the Technology-Related Assistance for Individuals with
Disabilities Act Amendments of 1994. 12/95
Pennsylvania's Initiative on Assistive Technology can help all children
and adults with disabilities and older Pennsylvanians through increased
access to assistive technology devices and services.
"Pennsylvanians will have the assistive technology services and supports
they need so they may contribute to and participate fully in their
community. There will be an assistive technology system that is easily
accessible and available to all Pennsylvanians. The system will be
consumer-responsive and will be supported by the coordinated resources of
government and private entities. The assistive technology system will
advocate for new developments in assistive technology, and for universal
access in the design of all community facilities and consumer products."
Draft Mission Statement Developed by PIAT's Advisory Board, May, 1994.
