Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share with you a technique for browsing the internet that
has made a huge difference in the efficiency with which I personally get
around the net.
I figured it might prove useful to at least some of you.

The method I describe below requires you to have both a shell or unix
account and a PPP account.
I have done it using JFW 3 and Windows 95.

I was frustrated with the limitations of using DOS under windows 95,
specifically not being able to cut and paste. Moreover, neither Netscape
nor Internet Explorer are as speech friendly as Lynx running in a shell
account, as most of you will agree.

What I did is the following:

-Log on to the internet using your PPP service provider under Windows 95.
-minimize that with insert F6 or any other command you may prefer;
-do a control escape and press 'r' for run and type telnet and the domain
name of your shell account internet provider (example: telnet netcom.com or
telnet interport.net
-press insert 's' in JFW so that JFW will echo everything that comes on
the screen;

There you go. Next thing you will here is the prompt of your shell account
asking for user name and password and off you are on to your shell account
and the possibility of doing e-mail and lynx within it.

The overall performance of my speech synthesizer and screen readers were
improved significantly. I am getting with this system a quicker response
than with lynx32 or conventional lynx running off of my shell account while
being in DOS.

I hope this improves your surfing experience.

Fernando
