It can be normal for the drive, but it hardly is proper. It's O.K. if
the drive is "hot" or even "very hot", but it should not burn your
fingers! If this is a 7200 or (especially!) 10000 RPM drive, you
should consider additional cooling. I remember the post on the list
that said "cooling for 10000 RPM drives is mandatory".
Anyway, I recall that Seagate's website offers a load of information
on each of its drives, including operating temperature ranges. You
should check this out. Good luck with the drive.
