Hi,
Have just joined this list a few days ago and have seen all these pros &
cons about modems. Just before joining I had ordered a $29.95 56K V 90
modem from ClubMail which I have just now received but have not yet fully
opened or installed. Has FCC Ident H52PT-3017 and WIN5601/5601 Model #. I
find it listed on:
Very informative site.

as a WINMODEM, ISA non Linux OK. I am not thinking of using Linux at the
moment. I currently have a Sportster Voice 28.8 Faxmodem Model 1171 with
33.6 Kbps data capability. System is non-branded, Intel 440FX MB Pentium Pro
200 with 128 megs mem, 11.5 gig EIDE and a 4.3 gig SCSI HD. Using Windows
95 B. In a rural area with one toll free ISP who has recently upgraded to:
48 aditional phone lines.... all the lines we are putting in will be 56K
v.90 modems. (Supra's, I understand).
I currently download in the 2.7-3.3KBps range and the

reported lines support 56K Technology.
Still have 20 days to return if not suitable. ---What's the advice?
