Check with the primary ISP you will be connecting this to and see
which type modems they have. If they have updated to V90 the

The Xircom might be flash upgradeable to v90..might not. You need to
investigate that further.
PC Card modems for notebooks cost quite a bit more than ISA and PCI
modems for desktop computers. The PC Card is pcmcia slot type,
about the size of a credit card, but much thicker. There are other
devices that plug into the pcmcia slot, (network interface cards, etc).
It won't be cheap to replace if it doesn't work with your ISP.

I am on AOL. However, sounds like I need to look for a notebook with a 56K
V.90 modem to be on the safe side. Am I not correct in assuming that from the
information you have sent me?
