I don't have a cable modem but when you installed the NIC you had to also
install Client for Microsoft networks. I don't think you can go back to
plain old windows logon. You can automate the logon with Tweakui, one of
the win95/98 power toys. It works most of the time. Works on 3 of my 4
machines.

Subject: [PCBUILD] disabling network login box
(From Tim Johnson)
How does one get rid of the Windows Logon dialog box that appears during
boot up in Win 95? I've tried going in to "passwords","users" and "Network"
in Explorer, but can't seem to disable this. I've even gone into setup by
hitting the Del key during POST/BIOS setup, and disabled the password
function in there, but obviously it's a different one, because it didn't do
the trick.
Previously, this box did not appear at all, but now I use a cable internet
service with a NIC card, and I'm thinking that it has something to do with
that. Advanced thankyou to anyone who can help.
