Go into your System Properties and then into Device Manager and look for
anything with a question mark or exclamation mark next to it. If there is,
this is probably part of your problem. I would delete these items then
restart your system. When the system redetects them, if it ask for a driver
disk, see if the driver is on the disk that came with your modem.
Often, PCI modems will simply be detected as some type of PCI device. Often
they are not detected as anything close to a modem and the system does not
recognize it as a modem untill drivers are installed. At that point, often
the rest of the modem functions will be auto detected and the remander of
the setup goes smoothly. If you still have problems, please state what
chipset is on your modem (ie. Rockwell, Lucent, Cirus Logic)
