Yessir, this is a completely workable setup, identical to mine.
My Machine #1 contains:
Win 98, Cable modem, Network Card, and a regular modem.
My Machine #2 contains:
Win95, Network Card.
If your initial concern was about having 2 network cards on the same machine,
(cable and RJ45), don't worry, it IS possible.
I'm running Wingate 2.1d as my Proxy. Thus far, the only I can't seem to
access my ISPs pop3 and smtp servers from machine #2. I know that sometime in
the distant past, 3 months and 15 Hard drive formatting sessions ago, I got
the config right, just not the last 2 or 3 times. The email clients that I've
attempted to use are Netscapes communicator 4.5 and Outlook Express. If you
complete your setup and are successful at gaining pop3 and smtp access from
your wingate client machine, please drop me a line.
