Hi Ann,

This has been mentioned before at various times, but Rice Dream contains
gluten. All Rice Dream is washed in Barley enzymes and barley is a gluten
containing grain. Also, the Vanilla Rice Dream would be using vanilla
derived from grain alcohol, which contains gluten. It is known that most
people with milk allergy also have problems with wheat/gluten and vice
versa. Your daughter could be reacting to that, having started developing a
more profound intolerance. Throat swelling/closing is a classic
allergic/intolerance type reaction. I am allergic to wheat, dairy and eggs
and it took me two years to find out that Rice Dream was what was making me
so sick. I was crashing constantly. I think the company did me a grave
diservice by not indicating the true ingredients on the label and believe
me, they are fully aware of this and have had plenty complaints but would
rather mislead people in order to sell thier product apparently. Maybe if
they got sued, they would take some social responsibility and label the true
ingredients of their product?
