Sorry to have to bring this up again, but something ~still~
isn't right.
The connections: from PC to parallel port scanner
from scanner print port to A/B box I/O
from 'A' on box to a Canon BJC250
from 'B' on box to a Brother 1014L (?)
Before hooking it up this way, I was going from the PC to
the switch box then 'A' to scanner and Canon printer and 'B' to
Brother printer. Didn't work well; system seemed "confused". So
before cabling it as noted above, I put each printer on the PC
by itself to make sure each worked; drivers corrects, etc. No
problems with each one individually.
I can print a document, cabled as above, from the 'B'
side of the box on the Brother printer, but on the 'A' side, I
get a dialog box that says "Cannot detect cartridge type; Please
check printer is online and cables are secured". You have no idea
how many times I have done that---frustrating.
Does this Canon just not ~like~ being run through a switch
box? Remember, both printers worked when installed alone. Yet
the Brother ~does~ work through the switch box.
Maybe it ~is~ time to go get that dual parallel port card.
Any help appreciated.
