Hello all.......here is my summary of my medic alert question and
although since then I see someone else has asked and answered the same
question!!
Everyone was very positive and helpful in their answers. Seems to be
quite a few celiacs wearing medic alert bracelets, and most have all of
their allergies or diseases on them. There is an online URL for more
information:
Try: http://www.medicalert.org this gives great
information and shows the National registration.
To summarize what everyone had to say:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, and wear it all the time! They even make some very pretty and
expensive ones
- and from experience, the hospital DOES take notice of them! Money
well spent.
So I will be getting my registration in to the medicalert organization
and then down to the local pharmacist to get mine!!
And I will also carry a card with me at all times, and write it on my
driving license too.....don't think I will go as far as having it
tattooed on my chest though!!! :))
Hope this helps anyone else with questions or worrying about becoming
seriously sick and being admitted to hospital. And although I agree, I
would prefer quick treatment rather than they take a long time to read
up about celiac, but come on.....they are supposed to be Doctors in ER
and they SHOULD know about celiac sprue!! Although I daresay that last
statement could get me alot of feedback and comments!!!
