  It's in NT 4.0 -- maybe only server.

  I don't think anybody does RAID 5 in software -- too big a
performance hit.

  Adaptec's 13x cards are about $100-$150, I think, but the only one
I've used required that the motherboard provide a "RAIDport"
connector on one of the PCI slots.  [And the NT driver was picky
about which drives it would work with.]
