We are getting over 300,000 hits per month on just one of our websites but of
course we are a business. I'll bet amazon.com gets millions per day. A hit is
the loading or running of a specific event. This means a single page can
generate many hits or events. A better barometer of web traffic is the number
of visitors or page views. You generally need some sort of web statistical
program to gather that information. One visitor could easily generate 100 hits
depending on the design of your site.
