Dear Bev,
Thank you so much! I will try the blender, that may work a lot better. My
poor old food processor just struggles to grind even the thinnest meat. What
a great idea, also will keep my eyes open for a meat slicer, has anyone seen
one in the stores anywhere?
Re turkey pemmican, I took some ground turkey and spread it very thinly on
the dehydrator yesterday.
I took it off after about 7 hours as it seemed dry.
[In the past I overdried it which made it way too brittle and the food
processor could not break it up, it was like iron]
Now I am worried, is it safe to eat, after drying it such a short time? It
felt pretty dry I thought at the time. Then I put it in the food processor
and it took about 10 seconds to whiz it up. (As opposed to almost hours usually)
Do you think I should let me son eat it? Or buy some more today and let it
dry a little longer? The secret with turkey is not to over-dry it, I think.
At the same time, I want to dry it sufficiently so the bacteria are gone.
Could I save this present batch somehow? Like put it in the oven for 5 minutes?
Again, I am not looking for a longterm pemmican at this point, just
something to get down my son's throat, which he is not allergic to, and
which is paleo.
Thanks everyone!
