>Why do sweet things taste so good to our taste buds?
I have two ideas on this:
1) Fruits are at their highest nutrient value when they are ripe. People
evolved (along with other animals) to be attracted to the sweet taste,
colors, etc. This helps the plant reproduce usually, by spreading seeds,
etc., and is done by the plant on "purpose".
2) Humans need calories along with micronutrients to survive. The more
we eat, the faster we grow up and reproduce, and the better we can
withstand lean times when food is scarce. Thus, we developed a taste for
high calorie foods, like sweets and fats.
