Yesterday I posed a question concerning weight loss on a gf diet. I
wanted to know from women who had been heavy before and now had lost
weight, exactly WHEN did the weight start coming off since going gf or
did it? Do they still have a weight problem.

I am getting posts telling me to go on a low carb diet or fast. As a
diabetic, I am already on a low carb diet (I follow a combination of
Atkins and Bernstein),but to no avail. Fasting is a quick root to the
hospital for me. Tried it once and would never even think of it again.

The problem for me is really a mind set one. If the majority of celiac
women even those who have been gf for years are finding it diffiecult to
take off and keep off weight, then I know it just goes with the
territory. If, however, somewhere down the road, the body catches up to
itself and the weight comes off, then one can dream, can't one?

So, to restate the ?--If you are a celiac woman who has been overweight,
since going gf (and for how long did it take? have you been able to lose
and keep off weight? I don't think method of weight loss matters, since
it is so individual, but the fact that you can or cannot is the major
issue.

I'm getting very interesting feedback and a lot of women are in the same
boat. One lady did respond to my comment of beating my head againt the
kitchen wall by saying that doing that uses up 150 calories? I like
that--not to mention the calories expended by having to repair the
plaster.
