Hi All,
I noticed the following in today's LA Times. Anyone know about the
accessibility of this application and exactly what's planned for public
filing of documents. This might be worth someone who lives in the area
examining further.

New Software on Docket in L.A. Superior Court Will Link People With
Papers
By KAREN KAPLAN
Electronic commerce is coming to the Los Angeles Superior Court.
The largest court system in the state is a few months away from
implementing eCourt, a software program from Choice Information
Systems in Newport News, Va., that will ultimately link judges,
lawyers and the public with the millions of documents they file each
year. Initially, the eCourt system will be deployed in family,
juvenile and probate courts, said Tony Antenorcruz, administrator for
special court operations in Los Angeles.
In the first stage of implementation, the courts will upgrade all
of their PCs to Microsoft's Windows 98 operating system so that they
can send complaints, summonses and other documents back and forth
electronically. Next, they will centralize all of their data into a
single database that everyone can dial into. Finally, the courts will
allow people to file cases and supporting documents electronically
without generating a piece of paper, Antenorcruz said.
Antenorcruz and executives from Choice introduced the eCourt
system to members of the Los Angeles County Bar Assn. last week and
received an enthusiastic response.
