A friend installed a HP600C on her win95 pentium. Win95 would never
'see it' during installation or booting. It kept saying that it could
not communicate with the printer. Tried new LPT1 printer cable,
---new mobo ribbon cable--nothing. The printer works on other
machines. Finally, I changed the CMOS from 'auto' configure parallel
port to manual, and I entered the IRQ, etc. and selected BI-DIR.
Sure enough, it rebooted and 'found' the printer--took the
installation, and printed a perfect test page. It worked beatifully
every time. Then rebooted, and no more printer. Again, it would not
install, and win95 could not 'see' the printer--no communication.
I deleted the printer from device manager, reset the manul numbers in
CMOS, and tried again. It worked. So, have to 'install' the printer
every time I start the machine. It will not 'stay' configured.
Any ideas?
