Cynthia:

You need to avoid malt flavoring. It is usually barley malt or
gluten-based. Better to be safe than sorry. There are some natural corn
flake cereals out there that do not have barley malt or malt flavoring.
Barbara's Corn Flakes and New Morning Corn Flakes have been gluten-free
in the past.
