A brief remark from Chomsky in his reply to another question in the Z
Magazine Forum this summer (7/31):

"On Mumia Abu-Jamal and Leonard Peltier, true, individuals are all
isolated people, but I don't see why that should deter us from seeking
justice for them, calling for fair trials, strongly opposing the death
penalty, etc.  Suppose we see someone threatened with murder or rape; it's
an isolated individual, but that doesn't absolve us from the
responsibility to do what we can to prevent the crime."
