I'm just learning the ropes myself. This is my first e-mail
subscription/digest of any kind and only my second week reading and posting
on the Paleo Digest.... but it seems to me that huge amount of text are
being repeated in the replies. The "only quote what is absolutely
essential, if anything, in your reply" List Serve Command Summary is largely
IGNORED, even by those who appear to be veteran subscribers.
Correct me if I'm wrong (gently, okay?!!) but would it not be more effective
if we all practiced the fine art of paraphrasing? We could say "in response
to what so and so said about such and such...." or "so and so said blabedy
blah... and I think/feel/beg to differ/want to add my two cents worth...."
or something like that.
I print most of the digests (on the backs of used paper) to read off-screen,
to avoid excess eye strain. I'm finding that soooooo much of the digests
are reruns of previous posts. Perhaps we could all save ink and make this a
lot more interesting if we followed the advice found on a bumper sticker
idea a friend of a friend found on the net: HELP STAMP OUT UNNECESSARY
REDUNDANCY!
Anyone care to lend a hand?
