Hey Michelle,
Yes, you can have tea. Green tea is advised over black because it is less
processed, but you can drink either. Personally, I'm finding I don't need as
much honey to sweeten the taste like I used to. I guess that's a plus from
being on the diet, you become more sensitive to anything that tastes sweet or
salty.
As far as what to eat, you can eat virtually any kind of fruit because fruit
is entirely edible raw. Most vegetables, likewise, except for peas, green
beans, turnips, beets, potatoes (including sweet), corn, and legumes. So any
type of meat, veg, fruit, nuts or seeds (except peanuts or cashews), and
berries are ok. Yes, olive oil is ok, but no other type of vegetable oil. I
prefer alot of times to cook with bacon grease, and am going to look for some
coconut oil to try.
As far as breakfast ideas, any combination of the above mentioned list goes.
I like to make breakfast shakes in the blender with banana, water, any other
type of fruit, and some nuts, You can add coconut milk to make it creamier,
and just a tad of honey. Remember, hunter gatherers did not have ready access
to alot of honey.
I've been on this diet for about a month, but have known about it and been off
and on it for about a year. I've tried other diets, and have always returned
to this one as the most sensible and enjoyable. Just be creative, substitute
nut flours instead of wheat flours and experiment, there are so many
interesting possibilities, and you will find the variety of what you eat will
be far healthier and more interesting.
I also found my body "reacted" at first for the first couple of weeks with a
sense of stiffness, but afterwards I felt like my body became more efficient
in cleansing out the toxins and I feel much better. Weight loss it seems for
alot of paleodieters can be slow at times, but I feel like my muscle mass
increases and my clothes fit more looser.
Well, good luck. I just had to share with you the benefits of this diet
because I believe it has enhanced my life tremendously.
Ella
