VENT ON
This whole thing doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I go to a
Seventh-Day Adventist church (though I don't agree with many of the
beliefs) and was brought up a Seventh-Day Adventist and have been to many
many potlucks. The selection of decadent desserts always amazes me, as
does the extreme creativity in processing the HELL (maybe that's why
they're so healthy) out of non-meat substances in order to make them
resemble meat.
I think that the gap between the Adventist lifespan and the lifespan of the
general public is definitly shrinking. There is a growing attitude that if
you don't eat meat, you can eat anything else and still be healthy. This
is irrational as are other traditions such as not eating mustard, but
piling on ketchup. Not eating pepper, but piling on salt. Not
drinking coffee, but sluffing down chocolate, etc.
