I have been a Neanderthin proponent for nearly two years.
When I discovered it, I was living in Texas and was able
to adhere to it quite faithfully. The weight loss and
the general feeling of well-being was remarkable.
During my recently-ended year-or-so exile in California,
I found it nearly impossible to take control of my diet.
The work ethic there kept me at work long hours and my
partner did everything he could to sabotage my adherance
to a Neanderthin-styled diet.
So while I was in CA, eating was more like skidding on
ice in which I found myself trying to minimize the
*damage* I did to my diet rather than actually adhering
to it. During this period, I ate basically everything I
should not have. I discovered that, of all the starches,
it seems that rice does no detectable damage to the loss
or maintenance of my weight.
The questions that come to mind: Is this specific to my
body chemistry or genetics? Is it only *not* a problem
with fat storage and are all the other negative responses
going on behind the scenes? (Since I am neither arthritic
nor diabetic, I cannot detect if any of the other effects
are occurring.)
I am back in Texas. With cafeterias, BBQ restaurants,
and the like, I am able to be more faithful. The weight
is dropping again. :-)
