My 10yo milk-allergic son is going to overnight Webelos
(Scout) camp this month, for only 4 days. I got a menu
from the camp director, asked questions about whether they
put butter on vegetables, etc., and am sending food with
him for the meals he can't eat. Breakfast is cereal and
fruit juice; I'll send Soy Moo for his cereal. There is a
salad bar at every meal and the dressings are separate from
the salad so I don't have to worry about contamination.
He'll take his own homemade salad dressing and his own
bread and crackers. I have to provide dinner for two
nights - one night is chopped steak (grilled using oil, no
milk additives) but the other nights are iffy (fried
chicken, fish sticks, mashed potatoes). Fortunately, DH is
going with him so he'll have a knowledgeable adult and the
camp director says he's been through this before with other
kids. We'll have a dedicated space in the fridge for his
food, and DH will do any warming that has to be done (to
insure no contamination). I'm hoping it works . . . .

psam
