][en,
I think we should make up a list which could be posted at the IPTW: A
subchapter in the language book on Contractorese: Top twenty contractor
excuses - all are used because the essential problem is the contractor is
overbooked and burdened. "Why didn't they call and ask?" Because there
wasn't time to do the task anyway. 1) The materials aren't in yet?
Mainly because I ordered it yesterday, not mainly because they didn't
deliver it.) The windows are backordered? (They would have been here if
I'd ordered them earlier when they weren't back ordered but I new I'd be too
busy to put them in anyway.) We had some equipment problems? ( The
equipment is on other jobs.) We had a couple men out this week? (Out
where exactly? And are these two of the six guys you hired on last week?
Or should we ask the Polish Consulate?)
Anyway, it all goes to show you can't be a manager and a bookkeeper and an
accountant and a craftsman.
Got any excuses?
Best,
Leland
