Fibro and CFS both have, as a symptom/problem, low adrenal functioning and/or
reserve. Stress will indeed aggravate this. I don't think immune system has
much to do with causing these conditions. However, your immune system is
likely to go into overdrive (low cortisol could be an explanation, ingestion
of certain proteins is another). This often creates problems with Thyroid
as well (e.g. Hashimotos - autoimmune reaction to thyroid).
It is my gut feeling that high carb content of SAD is responsible for
adrenal exhaustion and restriction of carbs (and specifically grains)
helps remove many problems.
(This is not the full list of what I think might cause/contribute to
these conditions, but this is a paleo list, not CFS newsgroup).
