Hello All,
I wrote for advice for dealing with Grass Allergies, I was having severe
allergic reactions to grass and the harvesting of wheat fields in my area.
I received some great responses and would like to share them. I have
started taking shots for the grass allergy along with Nasacort ( nasal
spray). I am feeling much better and can now work in the yard again, I
still can't mow ( won't complain there, didn't like that part anyway), but
I can work in my flower garden without feeling bad afterward.
Here are the responses I received
Shots - 11 individuals are taking allergy shots and have improved
5 individuals took shots, and they did not help at all
Over the Counter remedies:
Contact
Allerrest
Actifed
Tavist
Alka Seltzer Cold & Sinus ( I tried this and it really gave me a few hours
of relief)
Evening primrose oil softgels
Shaklee Nutritional products
(You will need to verify if the above are gluten free)
Prescription Relief:
Hismanal
Humabid, for mucus
Flonase
Hydroxyzine HCl 25 mg
Claritin
Helpful Hints for around the house:
Change air filters frequently, Hepa are great but more expensive
Wet mop and dust frequently ( this really helps me)
Wear a dust mask if needed
Wash hair before bed, pollen gets stuck in your hair and can get on your
pillow case and make you ill ( I have started washing my hair at night
instead of in the morning and it really helps)
Change in diet:
Eat more fresh fruit
Drink plenty of water
Thank you all for the wonderful advice.
