In response to my February 9, 1999 posting, I received two related replies:
1) I'm pretty sure that is the reason I had a heart attack at age 48 with a
cholesterol of 124! The CD was disgnosed about three years later, but I had
diarrhea during the summer at the same time I started having the chest pains.
Heart attack followed in October. Now, of course, I wish there had been the
awareness of homocysteine that there is now.
2) I have had the same type of experience with the B-12 and homocysteine
levels. The Doctor did not tell me the levels ( It was my dermatologist).
The high homocysteine levels caused sores on my feet, leg and in my Sinuses
that were a form of vascular thrombosis caused by the high Homocysteine. My
internist had just put me on B-12 for my celiac and the dermatologist added
B-6 aspirin and Folate. The sores went away and I feel much better. I had a
retest of the Homocysteine last Dr visit but have not yet received the
results. I had just received my diagnosis of Celiac after 15 years of
symptoms. I also have Diabetes and have hyperthyroidism.
