I just read your email to the "list."  It sounds like anaphylaxis to me.
My daughter has SEVERE allergies to even trace amounts of milk.  This is
what happens to her.  At first, she started out with the kind of reaction
you have.  And fortunately for us, Benedryl was effective when used.  The
allergy has worsened.  Her allergist said immediately, WARNED US SEVERELY,
that Benedryl was not the route to go as the only treatment, that we MUST
carry around with us epinephrine (EPI-PEN) for immediate self-injection and
seek emergency medical treatment immediately.  I cannot tell you too
strongly that this sounds like it is warrented in your case.  The EpiPen
has saved my daughter's life on more than one occasion.  Not wanting to
alarm you, but I thought too that Benedryl was enough.  It is not!  Best of
